Here at Ferguson Computers, we know how important it is for computers and laptops to be operating at their best for as long as possible. That is why we provide computer servicing. Using this service lets us keep your device in tip-top condition for as long as possible increasing the life of the device and allowing it to operate as efficiently as possible so that your computer does not slow you down.

A computer service will cost £40.

If you return for another service on the same device within 1 year of the previous service, a £15 discount will be applied to encourage continued care for your computer. Computers need care and attention too!

What This Service Includes

Update

We will update your operating system as well as all your software and drivers* to the most up to date options. Meaning that your device will be performing at its best and highest functionality.

Clean

We will take your computer apart and clean each part individually making sure that it is free from dust, hair and particles. This is important as it stops the PC from overheating and thermal throttling**.

Virus Scan

We will run a scan on your computer to ensure that there are no viruses, trojans, spyware or ransomware*** infecting your PC. This will make sure that your computer and data are safe and secure.

Optimize

We will adjust settings on your computer and use trusted software to optimise and enhance your computers resourced in order for you to get the smoothest and best performance from your computer.

*Drivers are pieces of software that are used to interface between physical components inside your computer and your operating system. Functioning as a translator between different parts of your PC.

**Thermal throttling is where a computer heats up so much that it purposefully slows itself down and reduces the power going to each component in order to attempt to reduce the heat generation.

***A virus is a piece of code that latches onto other software and spreads itself throughout your PC for various purposes but primarily to damage the system.

A trojan is a piece of software that disguises itself as another program to encourage the user to install it. Once installed it is used for various purposes such as installing viruses or spyware.

Spyware is used to collect information from the victims computer such as usernames, passwords, payment details and more. This information is then typically used or sold.

Ransomware is software that encrypts and locks out the user from their files or entire computer until the user completes the required task, typically paying the attacker.
